Don Giovanni - at Snape Proms in Suffolk

Posted by harriet in Uncategorized | August 16th, 2007

Attended a stunning concert performance of Don Gionvanni last night - Britten-Pears Orchestra. Every single seat was full. Congratulations to all the performers. I heard from Jonathan Reekie, Chief Executive of Aldeburgh Music who has led it brillinatly, that they plan a big expansion including more rehearsal rooms with support that they have raised privately as well as from the lottery and the Regional Development Agency. Promised to return with Margaret Hodge MP our new Culture Minister for an “official visit”.

Glad to hear that Enver has been demoted still further out of of harm’s way. The last time she registered on my radar was a couple of years ago, shortly after MG/Rover went belly-up while she was busying herself in her sinecure at the DTI.

I didn’t realise that you and Hodge were buddies (although it doesn’t surprise me in the least).

How does this square with your sister’s reported contempt for her? It must make for an uncomfortable . Or do you manage to separate politics from the family? And, if so, how?

Enjoy yourself with a night off once in a while. Go incognito to a wonderful concert, paying for your own tickets. Pass on the drinks with the chief executive. Don’t threaten anyone with Margaret Hodge. Go home happy.
Back to the day job the next morning suitably refreshed, ready to confront the big challenges facing this government.

In other words, chill out once in a while.
